KAŠTEL ŠTAFILIC

Groves of olives are a typical feature for a Mediterranean town. The olive has been cultivated for already 1500 years in Kaštel Stafilic and is a symbol of the magnificent surroundings. That landscape has been created by experienced olive farmers who have given their knowledge of olive cultivation from generation to generation.

KAŠTEL NOVI

A stroll through the narrow typical alleys, along the stony halls and arcades leads to the cellars of the winegrowing village of Kaštelac where the excellent wine is stored.

The alleys are a place of living, working, singing, relaxing, loving and quarrelling.

During the “festival” time the alleys become a real theatre place.

The riches of cultural and historical assets is proudly presented to the visitors in the Kaštela museum.

KAŠTEL LUKŠIC

The central Kaštel situated in the middle of the magic number seven, is the most glamorous castel of the Italian Renaissance, embeded in the old green of the surrounding parks and avenues remembers.

It reminds us of the tragic love affair of Dobrila and Miljenko.

Cherry trees are spread to the foot of the Koziak Mountains and the pines and tamarisks are real sunshades while walking along the beaches.

KAŠTEL STARI

The oldest strengthened palace in Kaštel Stari is the centre around which an interesting architectural unit was constructed during the centuries.

That palace states a good example of the traditional and classical architecture with a central place where all assemblies, trade and markets with various nature products such as fish and other goods took place.

If you consider the fruit richness of the earth, you won’t be astonished at the jewellery, the national mournings and the magnificance of the holy shrines.

KAŠTEL KAMBELOVAC

The hard “fishing bred” with seven crusts, softened with wine and olive oil together with delicious fish is one of the favourite dishes/meals of the fishing men from Kambelovac.
Let’s join them!

In the multicoloured and picturesque harbour are all kinds of boats such as “leuti, svjecarice, gajete and kajici”.

Furthermore the visitors have the possibility to have a look at fishing nets, ropes, lamps, lobster traps, suspensions, sails, oars, masts and old stony houses which have been built in the last five centuries around the Kastel Cambi which is said the most beautiful tower in this region.

KAŠTEL GOMILICA

Kaštel Gomilica was built in the sea by Benedictine sisters because of the eternal view to the reflection on the surface.

With the miniarchitecture of the houses, with the narrow towers as well as the surrounding blue of the sea and the sky, as if Kaštel Gomilica wants to escape from the reality.

Only the baroque angels, which acted as guards of Kaštel Gomilica, remind of the good old times.

KAŠTEL SUCURAC

The own Croatian history is chiselled in the hard stone of Kaštel Sucurac.

The old Croatian motif of chequer which juts out from a rock in the sea near Putalj and Kaštela is an everlasting reminiscence of the Croatian history.

A part of this recollection is exhibited in the local museum.

There are two belfries, one of them is a witness of sadness of past times and the second one sets a symbol for faith and hope for the future.
